Winifred Brassica is one of our most favorite brassicas to plant for deer. We recommend including it in a mix and do exactly that in the two different brassica mixes that we offer.
Winifred is a highly palatable brassica and is preferred by deer when available. It holds up well to pressure from deer and can be browsed multiple times with quick regrowth. This ensures you will be able to offer quality forage later in the year.
Thanks to a long taproot it does well at handling drought conditions early in its growth cycle. Winifred Brassica also is extremely cold tolerant continuing to perform great as winter approaches bringing colder temperatures with it.
Again, we recommend planting in a diverse brassica mix with other forages to ensure that you are offering quality food sources in your plot all season long.
