Crimson clover is an annual clover that is quick to grow, hard on poor soil, and easy to love.
It is one of the best fast-establishing, high-protein legumes that you can plant in food plot. It can be counted on to deliver rapid green-up, excellent forage quality, and real soil-building benefits while fitting perfectly into both hunting plots and soil-improvement programs.
Deer are drawn to its tender, highly attractive growth from spring thru fall. At the same time crimson clover works below the surface by fixing nitrogen, improving soil structure, and building valuable organic matter.
Crimson clover is the perfect companion when added to brassica plots or cereal grains for fall hunting plots adding much needed variety and diversity that whitetails crave.
It does not handle colder temps as well as other clovers therefore we do not recommend frost seeding crimson clover. In Southern states crimson clover can be planted in the fall and will perform well in a mild winter.
Pollinators and insects will also benefit from the bright red blooms of crimson clover.
Crimson clover is an affordable food plot planting while being an absolute workhorse planting.
When used in a mix we recommend 4 to 8 pounds per acre. For standalone plots, it can be drilled at 16 pounds per acre or broadcasted using 20 pounds per acre.
Package size is 4 pounds.
