First Strike is the perfect mix for early season bowhunting success. It is a combination of highly attractive forages that whitetails can’t resist.
Early season success is dictated by understanding whitetail patterns and using that to your advantage. Food sources are a critical part of the puzzle. If you have a consistent deer population on your property, then planting First Strike can help you keep them from dispersing. Likewise, First Strike is such a powerful attraction it can aid in drawing deer and keeping them close as they transition from summer ranges.
It took us a few years to fine tune, but we feel like we finally got it perfect and are excited to offer it in our line of products. We combine oats, peas, triticale, crimson clover, and forage radish into one solid mix. The oats and peas are attractive early and the triticale helps to extend the plot late into the season.
Whether you want to control doe numbers early or looking to capitalize on your target buck’s late Summer patterns planting First Strike and tip the odds in your favor.
We try to plant this mix between August 15th and not later than September 1st.
Planting rate is 60 pounds per half acre and 100 pounds for a full acre sized plot.
If needed you can later broadcast winter rye four weeks after planting at a rate of 50 pounds per acre.
Note: Crimson Clover and Forage Radish are packaged separately to ensure an easier seeding process.
